Scott O’Connell
Scott was born and raised in South St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating from South St. Paul High School, he attended Brown Institute School of Broadcasting, then worked as a broadcaster and sports play-by-play announcer at stations in Wisconsin and Minnesota. During that time he married his wife, Pam, whom he had met in high school.
In 1984 Scott took a position as a salesman for the Minnesota Twins, where he remained for 34 seasons. Over his time with the team, his roles continued to evolve from salesperson to Group Sales Director, Sales Director, and Director of New Ballpark Sales connected to the building of Target Field. For his final ten seasons he served as Senior Director of Premium Seats and Service. In addition, Scott served for three years as President of the Association of Luxury Suite Directors, a national organization with over 2,000 members.
While with the Twins, Scott participated in many charity events and programs, primarily the rebuilding of local baseball fields in the inner city and the construction of Field of Dreams fields that provided facilities for youth with disabilities across the State of Minnesota.
Upon retiring, Scott and Pam moved to Walla Walla, where they both became active in the community. Pam is a mentor with Friends, and together they serve on the committees for the Friends Spring Breakfast and End of Summer Supper fundraisers, as well as help with food distribution at BMAC. Scott is an active member of Men in the Middle, who prepare meals for Walla Walla’s citizens in need.
